Commonly Used Wicks Based On Container Blend Wax

8 oz Tins are wider than they are tall, hence they tend to retain heat poorly being so shallow. This type of shape usually requires a larger wick set up than normal. It is normally not advisable to double wick on a 3 inch diameter, but with these tins being so shallow, a 2 wick set up can be ideal and very aromatic without getting too hot at the bottom. The tins are coated to be resistant to rust, but it is important to note that if a material is caustic enough to the tin, it may wear away this coating and create an adverse reaction. Some fragrance oils may have this effect on the tin and sometimes oils with high vanillan contents seem to be the culprits. When it comes to caustic materials and the tin coating an adverse reaction seems to happen in the first 14 days. As always we recommend to test and observe your finish products to ensure quality. The tin has a fill line on the inside making it very easy to fill at that appropriate height. Do not fill the tin past this line. We have noticed that when overfilling tins, the chance of an adverse reaction just about doubles.
