 Candle Makers Notes:

CCSP-55 is a full paraffin blend processed into an easy to use and measure granulated form designed for making pillar candles from molds. This wax has the shrink and hardness necessary for making candles out of complex molds. The wax will act more like a plasticizer helping to define the sharper fine details. It's extra shrink factor and hardness make it easy for mold release. Due to the general hardness of the wax and due to its shrink multiple pours are usually necessary to fill in gaps and holes. Using a rod instrument to put holes into the wax or maneuvering the wick in large circle to make an inverted conical shape will likely be necessary to fill voids or air pockets that may otherwise be not be seen, but will likely impact the candles burn quality and structural integrity later. The larger the candle being crafted, the more likely multiple pours and clearing void/air pockets becomes necessary. This process of performing am additional pour is usually done within 1.5 - 3 hours depending on the size of the candle. Larger candles take longer to set up. Clearing out the void pocket and/or performing the next pour is done when the wax has become a full solid form, but is still warm and malleable, much like a wet mud consistency. We recommend to use a spray form of silicone, much like the CRC Heavy Duty Silicone Spray when making pillar candles. Simply spray onto a non-fiberous/non-shedding towel and wipe the inside and inside details of the mold. This helps create a thin protective layer between the wax and mold allowing for an easier release and it helps protect your mold from wear. Additionally this should give your candle an extra glossy look.

    Repeatable Wax

    John on Dec 30th 2021

Good wax. Easy to work. I like that it’s granules rather than slabs. Makes it easier to measure out to get consistent repeatable results.
