For large event sand candles simply pour the granulated sand wax into your compatible candle vase. Use a pre-dipped wick or remove the metal wick tab from a container wick and place the wick in the middle of the sand. Adjust the wick height to 1/4" and burn. Remove the burnt wick and the hard wax after blowing out and allowing the liquid wax portions to fully harden and cool. Add more sand wax or manipulate the left over sand wax. Add a new wick and burn again. These event style sand wax candles are designed for reusability.
For retail candles or candles designed to get a full melt pool add the sand wax to a pre-wicked container. Using a container that has a lid with a tight fit to the wax is recommended or heat gun the tops to make a full layer of solid wax for a full seal.
When dyeing or adding fragrance use a disposable sealable bag. We recommend to use 4-8 drops of dye and 6% for the max fragrance load (1 oz fragrance per pound). We have tested up to 30 drops per pound when using liquid dye as some colors are difficult to achieve (ie. Black, Red, etc.). When using a lot of fragrance or dye the sand wax may become clumpy and wet. When it is in this state it is difficult to manipulate and pour. We recommend to let the sand wax air out for a day or two to allow it to return to its fine grain form. Using a lot of dye may make the wax take on a petrol odor. This usually will dissipate as you let the sand wax air out properly before usage.
DETAILED INSTRUCTION SHEET BELOW Take note of your candle pouring environment as colder room temperatures or cold glass may require a hotter pour. The inverse may also be true for pouring candles in hotter environments. |
