Description

 Description  Properties

CC-35 is an all natural pillar wax made from soy. It is made from 100% natural products and does not contain petroleum or paraffin. CC-35's soy properties allow for limited shrink, reducing the number of pour steps and top-offs that are usually required. It does this while still creating enough shrink around the perimeter of the mold to allow for a smooth release. It's soy properties allow for a higher max fragrance load in comparison to other pillar waxes at a 8% max load. Most pillar waxes may only hold up to 6%. CC-35 works best with simple solid shapes. Intricate molds with finer details and smaller parts may not be compatible with CC-35, and may be best suited for waxes that have plasticizing properties as they are derived from paraffin.

Take note of your candle pouring environment as colder room temperatures or cold glass may require a hotter pour. The inverse may also be true for pouring candles in hotter environments.

 Candle Makers Notes:

CC-35 is one of the easiest pillar waxes to work with because its limited inner shrink. Most molds will require 2-3 pours with each pour spaced out by a few hours to fill in sinkholes and other places where excess shrink has taken place. These same set ups may usually require a top-off pour when completed to ensure the surface is flat. CC-35 in many cases reduces the amount of pours required by half in comparison to other pillar waxes. Additionally, being that the wax is made up of soy it can hold more fragrance oil than your traditional paraffin pillar wax. We have tested up to 8% and found the wax will still easily release from most simple shaped molds. Pouring hot is recommended at 190-200F as the wax benefits greatly from a hotter pour and longer set up time. This helps ensure even shrink for an easily release and also greatly reduces soy wax frosting. As with most wax pillar crafting projects, we recommend silicone spray. Simply spray a small amount on a clean, non-shedding towel and apply a coat to the inside of your clean mold. This will help create a barrier between your mold and the wax to aid in an easy release and it protects the mold from the regular wear of making pillar candles. Additionally, this will also make a protective layer of gloss around your candle giving it a glossy sheen. Molds with intricate small details may be difficult to work with when using CC-35 as soy tends to be more soft and rounded when capturing details. Waxes that act as plasticizers as they made from paraffin, like CCS-P55 will capture these details more sharply. Some molds with smaller or thin parts, like some of the popular body type molds, may be difficult to work with in getting a clean release due to the thin parts. Once again using a wax that is derived from paraffin will likely prove easier to use in getting a clean release because of the plasticizing and hard properties. Warm and summer conditions may make it difficult to get a clean release from a mold. Placing these molds into a fridge for 30-45 minutes may help increase the hardness and shrink temporarily to get an adequate release. Do not put warm or hot liquid wax into the fridge as this will cool down much to fast usually causing the wax to crack. Only chill your molds after the candle is no longer warm, has fully set up, and you are certain the wax has released enough heat so it is not shocked from the quick temperature change when chilling. Always check to make sure your molds care compatible and compatible with a hotter pour. Most silicone, tin, and aluminum molds are compatible with pouring as high as 200F. Molds made from plastic will likely require a cooler pour.

This is the first time I have used this wax, but so far I am loving it! A little frosting, but hardly anything. It did take quite a while to receive it, but I am on the East coast during a pandemic so.....
